Manage and measure the highest value cloud action items
This release introduces new capabilities in the Action Items section and adds the new Activity Log section.
In Action Items, you now have the ability to view the highest value cloud action items and manage the execution of those items. The Activity Log helps you track status changes to action items, as well as the business value of resolving those items.
Track action items.
Introducing Status and Action Type.
In the Action Items tab, you will continue to find your action items prioritized by savings and performance opportunity. Easily identify the highest value action items to work on by starting from the top of the list.
Each action item now has a Status and an Action Type.
The Status of an item allows you to track which items are Open, In Progress, and Resolved. The Action Type indicates what needs to be done (e.g., Terminate, Rightsize, and more) that is optimal for your workload and cloud resources. For Open action items, the top ranked action type will be displayed.
Update the status of an action item.
Once you select an action item, you will see the Top Ranked Actions listed in order of the highest value action you should take. If there are no Top Ranked Actions, you may choose an Alternative Action to take. Once you have determined the action you would like to take, you may change the status of that action to reflect your workflow.
(If you do not wish to take any action, you may leave the status of all actions Open. Leaving the action item Open will allow the action item to remain in your Action Items list and for the associated cloud resource to continually be evaluated for top ranked actions).
The Status bar at the top allows you to track your action item's progress at a glance.
Steps to get started:
Select an action item from the Action Items tab.
Choose an action to take for your resource. If you choose to do nothing, you may leave all actions as Open and you will receive higher ranked actions when they are available.
Update the status of the action to In Progress or Resolved depending on the actual status of that item in your cloud workload.
Save the status change.
Helpful tips:
If an action is In Progress and you would like to revisit another action, you must first change the action marked as In Progress back to Open.
Once an action's status has been changed to Resolved, you will only be able to reference details of this action in the Activity section of the application.
If you choose to terminate or rightsize a resource, you should resolve this action item before executing the change with your cloud provider. Once a resource is terminated, we are no longer able to detect the resource. Resolving this action item in advance will ensure proper tracking of your activity.
View Action item history and Realized Savings in the Activity Log.
The new Activity Log tab is where you can track the history of changes to your action items and measure realized savings. Realized Savings is the monthly cost difference of a cloud resource after resolving an action item.
